One of traditions in Japan is “Pottery ashtray (KAYARIKI)”.

There are various opinions as to why Pottery ashtray is pig, but in the Edo era it is said that “roots are smoldering cedar leaves packed in a bottle and repelling mosquitoes”.

Thereafter it was said that the mosquito coil was developed in the Meiji era, and the shape of the bottle was regarded as a pig and made into a mosquito repair machine is the beginning.
